This is what I want to do this year.
1. Dartmoor - I want to do some heritage classes with him, he will also be doing the breed show and some county shows this year. Am I thinking I definatley need to join the BSPS or can I still enter the heritage classes without being a member unless I qualify?
2. Welsh D mare. I want to compete in some novice classes with her she's doing some county shows and maybe a few RI qualifiers and I may even try a couple of Hoys to see how we do. I've joined the showing register. Do I also need to join the bsps.
I'm so confused with all these societies and what classes you can do with what membership.
I need a dummy's guide to M &M's as this is my first proper year showing them solely as I normally show a hunter.
Who do I need membership with and what else do I need to sign up for etc.
Thanks

You can enter BSPS shows without being a member but you dont qualify for their Champs. If you want to do RI flats then you need to be a member of BSPS. Membership of any society covers you for hoys quals. You only need a height certificate for a M&M if you qualify for hoys or RI. Hope this helps

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but if you've never been a member of BSPS, and you're in a qualifying position for their champs, you can become a member within two weeks and qualify?

I think it says seven days if you've never been a member. But only for champs. RIHS and hoys you must be a member prior to qualifiers x

Why don't you have a chat to BSPS direct with your queries?

BSPS membership will cover you for everything you have listed above and also Olympia qualifiers. You must already be a member to enter RIHS, HOYS and Olympia qualifiers. You must also register for a HOYS ID if you want to do those and if you qualify for HOYS you must have a height cert to enter.
PS You must also be a DPS member to do the breed show with your Dartmoor.
TSR membership only covers you for their shows & HOYS, but not RIHS or Olympia
You can enter any "ordinary" Heritage classes without BSPS membership

Hi loulabelle
TSR has produced a flow chart to show what you can and cannot do on each societies membership plus the costs just e mail theshowingregister@yahoo.co.uk and Sarah will mail you one.
RIHS is the most expensive with the need to join 3 societies to take part in all the classes

Brilliant that clears it all up. Janet I've been dps member for 4 years so I'm ok on that front. All seems clearer now it's just all confusing having never done it before.

Just reminding you to renew DPS loulabelle - makes my job easier when the entries arrive, it is surprising the number who have "forgotten" when the entries close in May!
I took your post to mean flat classes so you wont need NPS membership for RIHS but you would need PUK if you wanted to do the Junior, Young Riders or the new Amateur classes

Oh yes thank you. It's a little hard to read from my iPhone but I'm going to print it off on Monday so I have it life size. But reading though it it helped me very much as it's easy to understand and tells me what I want to know. I'd definitely make it readily available. It's very useful
