I see that the age limit for open and novice ridden show ponies/show hunter ponies has been removed. Rider to be a suitable size for the pony. Doesnt affect me as we dont do plaited but what do people think?

When these classes started they had lower ages than the equivalent BSPS classes. This was then increased in line with BSPS & later apart from the smallest class there never was an age limit for these classes, as it was one my daughter competed in regularly on her under 148 PBA who would have contested SP classes if he had had an appropriate rider.

I think it is a positive move, other countries do not have age restrictions and show pony classes are thriving there, plus in this country you often see very large or very small children inappropriately mounted. Personally I would like to see all age restrictions lifted and the title children's removed. Afteral we are judging the pony not the child. It would be better to have best child rider classes then the child.s riding ability would be judged and not the pony, this would help to improve the general standard of riding.

Think it's great that they have removed the age restriction and are allowing stallions. We get a chance to compete against other similar ponies to see how good our show pony stallions are.
