17 months ago my lovely border collie had 6 pups we rehomed 4 by word of mouth to friends and family then advertised the last 2. A few nights ago the lady who bought the bit*h pup from this ad rang to say pup was great she had just found my contact details and wanted to email me some pics, I was very dissapointed when I then heard nothing until another call last night when she then said she wanted to come and see me for some advice! By 11 oclock this morning she has driven away leaving the dog with me, with no vacc documents, ideas of food she been having or anything. When she 1st came in the house she played with her mum but even more so with our 7month old Lakeland/collie type cross. Since then she has attacked the pup twice for no reason, doesnt seem to respond to her name at all so is hiding at all costs in the garden or the house but if you put her on the lead she goes into crash position and then trys to leg it in the opposite direction, Im not sure how to try to get her out for her next loo break as its now dark!? Ive set up my spare crate and put her in that to give her a safe secure place of her own, Ive given her a small amount of her mums food for tea which she has eaten but havent been able to get her to come to me for treats so not sure that bribery will work. Will try to speak to the nurse at the vets tommorow who specialises in behaviour for some more advice but any tips or suggestions here would be much appreciated

going to speak to the nurse is the best help you will get. if she cant solve the problem then she will be able to put you in contact with someone who can. im a nurse and specialise in puppy socialisation and it sounds like there was a great lack of this for this puppy. it may never be completely solved but with a lot of hard work you can help to overcome some if not all of the issues. it will take time and patience, please dont give up on the pup, its thanks to these idiots that it now has issues. if your nurse is no help then pm me and i can give you contacts of some good behaviourists xxx

Thank you SM, thankfully she is a little more relaxed today, but unfortunatly the story has become more complicated today, plus couldnt get to see the behaviourist nurse til tommorow.

DAP difussers could be helpful with this dog(pheromone difuser which should help with anxiety) also at our surgery we have had a lot of success with Zylkene which is a calmer for anxious dogs. Some dogs with quite long standing anxiety issues have responded well - you can get either of these from your vet and maybe even off the internet. Try googling them and see what comes up as they are not prescription meds. Good luck
