I'd personally say traditional wear, smart trousers, tops & tails, or a smart skirt & blouse, like a leader would wear in lead rein evening performance class
Dresses would look ridiculous inhand

In hand concours seems to be quite popular if you show miniatures and they do wear dresses .

Yeah I saw this on Facebook the other day They have concours a lot at Mimi shows but never see it at a normal show so I think it's a bit hit and miss to what everyone is going to wear I entered it think I will go for the trad inhand lead look but at least if everyone wears dress we will know for next year if they do it again I like the idea on the inhand concours hopefully more will do this class now as my src a would go wild with a dress on his quite sharp lol

As owner of www.concours-couture.com I am frequently being asked about what to wear for the new in hand concours class @ Equifest 2014 IMO, an individual's outfit depends on the type/breed of horse/pony he/she is showing in the concours class .... a more traditional oufit works with natives and cobs whereas leaders of show ponies, hacks and finer animals can turn to more elegant outfits but in all instances, each oufit must be practical enough for running the animal out without tripping over long skirts or boobs popping out of low tops .... I do not like to see completely bare arms either ... couture, elegance and modesty should be aimed for. Having said all that, on the day, it really is down to the judges interpretation and preferences Anyone seen the film All For Love screened on tv recently where actress Anna Friel was to be seen walking through woods wearing her period riding outfit in bright red? Wow! Of course she had the most dainty figure and this is another consideration when choosing the in-hand concours outfit Good luck to all competing in concours classes this year and if I may be of assistance, I will be only too happy to advise and supply your beautiful outfit whether ridden and/or in hand concours d'elegance
