I have a 14hh mare, and she constantly squeels and kicks the back of her stable! Im worried she'll hurt herself or someone else. She isnt in pain or anything. Anyone know why she may do it? And how to prevent it? Thanks

Does she have a lot of feather? Could it be mites?

My mare started doing this about 2 years back. We got the vet out to check her back etc and we were told it was behavioural problems

Is there anything you can do about it? And does your mare still do it? :]

we had a 3 yr old colt that used to do it we replaced the plywood lining of his stable with thin stockboard its like hard plastic we screwed it to the battons he kicked it once and because he bounced on it and it made no noise he stopped bothering or failing that you can try kicking rings if you have an ameanable farrier to make them for you . they are circular metal rings that need to rest on the corronet band with a notch cut in just small enough to fit over the pastern to put them on and off they work by discouraging the horse from kicking and they have the brilliant side effect of massaging the corronet band and increasing hoof growth
