Best saddle for riding horse

I have 17hh chestnut tb, who i am wanting to do some HOYS qualifiers with. He is eligible for RoR. He is very high withered but with work this will hopefully improve. Which saddles are best for riding horses at this level of showing? And also wont lay too low on his withers?

Firstly if you are thinking of showing him as a Riding Horse, as your heading suggests, He is too big for the class!
However if you are just asking about a showing saddle suitable for showing a high withered horse, - I suggest asking Ideal or Fylde for help in fitting a suitable saddle that fits. Hope this helps and Good Luck

I was just going to stick to RoR classes but thought the best way to describe him was a riding horse type! what is the max height for a riding horse ? He's 16.3 but never actually had the stick on him yet!

Thought a large riding horse was exceeding 15 2 with no upper height?

I had a look and thats what it said (large exceeding 158cm) nooo upper height limit!! Said some are often 17hh

Yeah like show cobs have no upper height.

There is no upper height on a large RH. For ROR you are correct in turning out to type. Try an Ideal, fit both my RORs well.

Any bench made saddle maker (Ideal, Black Country, Silhouette etc) can make you a showing saddle on a tree suitable for a high withered horse. Moststandard showing saddles are on flat trees, so it will be custom. We have made them in the past but tend to stick to wider and flatter now, though I did fit a lovely higher withered MW hunter with one last week
