Yes my partner is disabled at the age of 27 which prevents him from working, are you forgetting he has worked at the same place for 8 years and had a job since he left school? No I don't work as I have 2 young kids and have to look after my other half and yes I get carers allowance for it, no I don't consider it a problem.. little did you know I volunteer for a charity at groups and in my spare time from home.. Have you considered that a disability has ruined my partners life and shattered his self confidence yet all you can do is bit*h about 'some people don't know what it feels like to spend a hard earned wage'.. Nasty bit*hes.

In my youth, 1960s when you were pregnant it was expected that you gave in your resignation when you reached 6 months and you would stay at home until the last child went to school. That way mommy was always there at the school gates or at home when the kids came home. OK we didnt have automatic washing machines or dishwashers and very little money after the bills were paid and housekeeping spent. It was assumed that it was a full time job looking after a husband and kids and I felt privileged to do it.
I do wish people would look on running a family as a career option, it is the most important job in the world, the pay is pants though.

Well said auntibarb looking after children is extremely hard work and a job that doesnt have finishing time nor a start time like most others!

Problem is though, housing is far more expensive in comparison to earnings. Standards of living are generally higher, expectations are also higher!! Children don't appear to be happy to settle for crayons and dolls to play with, they want iPads, xbox's, designer clothes, iPhones, and ponies!!

Thanks guys! It has been a very frustrating year for us being passed backwards and forwards between GP and hospital, still waiting for a diagnosis.. People obviously think he is taking the pee because he prefers to get out of the house and potter around at the yard rather than sitting in a chair all day at home rotting away! (His words) Just wish people wouldn't be so disrespectful.. He is 27 and his life has been ruined by a 'disability'... He would love nothing more than to go back to work and have a 'hard earned wage' !!!!

As for the children.. I'm glad people agree. I thought I may have been the only person on earth that thought I had been blessed with children and that I would like to be at home with them bringing them up that stuffing them into a nursery to spend all day with someone else! (I know some people do this and don't have a problem with it but It isn't for me!)

I also have never put Maisie into a nursery. We run our business from home so am fortunate in that respect. Prior to Maisie being born I was very much into my job & only had 12 weeks maternity before returning full time. I lasted 2.5 months and was able to work part time from home. I could never have coped without lees help and take my hat off to anyone who manages more than one!!!!!
