Going to Equifest for first time this year and I have some questions that I'm hoping you guys may be able to help me with. I'm looking at the provisional timetable I can see a lot of pairs classes.
Firstly, What do you do in a pairs class. Is it literally a normal show on both reins but with both of you side by side at all times and what is it that the judges are looking for to get you the extra marks. I can see threads on here rom last year of folk wanting to find partners for the Pairs classes so am I correct to think that you don't have to wear identical jackets as two strangers meeting up at Equifest to do the pairs may well have completely different riding clothes.
Also, can anyone explain what the Pre Judging Pairs class is. For example, Class 608 on Saturday says Pre Judging Native/Traditional. What happens in a Pre Judging class?
Finally, The adult and child class. Does anyone know the maximum permitted age of the child. My daughter is 17. Would she and I be able to go in this class?

Pairs: the pre-judging is where the class is actually judged, before you go into the evening performance.
We've got 2nd and 4th in the M&M pairs before and did a show in the pre-judging. Practice before hand to make sure you can keep together. It's better if one person is in charge of changing direction/changing pace, then you can make the change at the same time. Singing can help you keep in rhythm for rising trot too!
All pairs/top 10 (been done differently) then go into evening performance for placing.
Same clothing is obviously better, we're old fashioned and usually go for plain cream stocks, navy jackets and same colour gloves etc. simple buns with gold ribbons/scrunchie. Easier to match!

Thanks for that info. Sounds like a lot of practice together to get it right so not sure how these complete strangers go on advertising for a pair. Must have to pack an hour or twos practice in at the show. Does anyone know what the age is for the Adult/Child class
