Oh dear, what a day we have had......answered an ad for a pony that we thought may suit our daughter, as we want to show we asked all the right questions on the phone, pony still sounded very, pics were emailed and pony looked great, all well and good so we set off on a 3 hour trek to see it.
We found this so called "stud" and had reservations as we pulled in past old broken down cars etc...i was all for turning around and legging it, but as hubby had driven so far we said we may as well look....
Pony was advertised as "county level" so as we walked past a disgusting mud swamp full of shoite that was supposed to be a feild, complete with extra ornaments such as rusting cars.. the owner came to greet us.....we went to a barn which was minging, our housed beef cattle are in luxury compared to this...listened to owner waffle on about how fanatastic this pony was etc etc.....well the poor thing was supposed to be 4, looked like a 2yo had rainscald and had probably never seen a wormer, as well as having some serious conformation faults....we made our excuses and left...
By this time we were starving so popped into a lovely little pub, got talking to the owner about the ordeal, and low and behold his wife knew someone who was selling a pony that might suit but hadn't got around to advertising as she wasn't desparate to sell, after lunch we set off as only 15mins away and to cut a long story short we are collecting pony next week!!! cracking sort, living out and hairy but in fantastic condition., has been backed and hacked, just how i like them!!
What i want to know is the first place that called themselves a stud, had so many ponies and couldn't look after the ones they already had, yet they were proudly telling us they had 12 more foals due this year....WHY?? why keep breeding inferior ponies you can't sell??
Yes i could've "rescued" the pony, but i HAVE to be realistic, i need sound fit ponies, with good conformation for their jobs....
I have spoken with the relevant authorities, and hopefully action will be taken....so if you are reading this, get you act together.
