Oh no I feel for you. But as long as you make a full recovery theirs always another show season.
Take it from someone who broke their back and didn't give it the recovery period it needed due to being young and daft. I'm paying the price now.
Take care. You might get the back end of the season if someone keeps horses ticking over for you xx

Got to admit, when I broke my collarbone I was told the same but when horses are too small for others to ride I needed to exercise them so after 6 weeks I was riding again! Wish I hadn't now as my shoulder/collarbone is always sore!

I have broken my collar bones twice, the first time unfortunately I was starting a job the week after and I so wanted the job so nobody ever knew I had one, it was my left one and I am right handed so I managed and even had to drive twenty miles to work every day, three weeks and I was well on the way to recovery and competing x/c by 4 weeks. The second time was nearly 30 years later but I don't think quite as bad break and I knew there was nothing they could do for me so out came the collar bone harnesses that they don't give you nowadays and away I went, I could drive straight away and did not even stop riding the easy ponies. So my advise to you is that get hold of a padded collar bone brace and in a month you will probably be well on the mend and might be able to do some competing a bit later in the season that is unless you really have a complicated break in which case I think they have to pin it. In my generation everybody had broken collar bones comes with the territory, but they stopped giving out the collar bone supports as people could do a lot more much earlier. Hope you make a speedy recovery.

Thank you everyone, this is my 2nd break , the first time I was out hunting 3. Days after breaking it. I have stayed on the ground for one week this time as my shoulder joint is the problem, but I did go back to work Tuesday as I'm self employed and run my own yard so time off is a no no. I have entered for a show in two weeks times which I'm hoping with rest I'll be ok to ride.
