Hi Guys would love anyones experiences please
Im a great believer in a riding pony being comfy in the mouth and my boy obviosuly ismt as he keeps sticking his tongue out the side
I have tried loose ring french link Hanging cheek Straight bar single joint
the best he has been in is the Myler Low port comfort snaffle but seems to get used to something then start again
Now he bends properly and listens and is very soft in the hand and a very responsive ride - does this always have to be a sign of discomfort or could it be a cheeky habit?
I would like him to keep his tongue in and dont want any gadgets or quick fixes please - He has had his teeth and back checked

When I'm really concentrating when riding I stick my tongue out and bite my lip lol... You're bound to have already but have an equine dentist just check the balance of his mouth to be sure

My lad does the same. He is 8 now. He doesn't do it hacking, just in the school. We have tried very bit going and it makes no difference. Although not the one suggested above. I have now just put it down to a quirky habit. Every pro photo I have of him his tongue is sticking out. He has qualified for hoys 3 times his tongue out. Very odd boy

I think sometimes what started as an evasion can become a habit if not addressed and sorted out quickly.

I agree Sarah been trying to sort it as soon as he started but like you say think it may now be his party trick

I rode a plaited little coloured stallion that did this we tried everything but any contact and out it popped. He did rather well qualifying every year for the ri. He went beautifully but unfortunately it cost me a placing once at the ri and judge said.

I used to ride my gelding (he hated any pressure on his tongue)in a Sprenger Correction bit.

Phone Steve at bomber bits, we had the same problem, not an evasion just a discomfort, he recommended a bit and we had a HOYS ticket within 2 weeks!! Lovely products, fantastic advise and service......give them a call!

I've had a look at the 'Bomber Bits' and can't for the life of me work out just how they offer relief from tongue pressure..I know that they are angled but I still can't see the benefit?? What am I missing?
