If she was covered on 18th May 2013 then the foal will be due around 21st April 2014 but they can go on 4 weeks late

Foalie will come when ready. If it's a maiden mare you might be waiting 12 months. Keep a good eye on her now. Watch for her teats going shiny and her waxing up although this does not always happen. Each mare is different. Don't panic. All is quite normal.

One of mine was last covered on 5th May last year and she's only just starting to bag up. She has gone 12 1/2 months before and looks like she might do it again!

Like Phillipa said maiden mares usually take longer to cook, baby will come when it is ready, keep a regular checking times , I have found that my mares would foal when they knew I was around if they needed me, or be very secretive if they felt that way, on the whole with mine the smaller ones were secretive and the bigger ones liked me to hold their hoof! Good luck

I've found it's the maidens who like the moral support and the experienced mothers who are happy to do their own thing! And the maidens seem to be far more likely to have them in the daytime whereas the peak time for the rest is very early morning. Mine all foal out, maidens usually in a field to themselves, having had a foal or two stolen before the dams had realised what had happened to them.

Well she proved me wrong and waxed up, bagged up and foaled yesterday at 11.45pm, half an hour after her stable mate foaled yet their covering dates were 24 days apart. The other mare has had a huge bag for over a week but I never saw her wax up despite checking several times a day. Both experienced mares who have had several foals before so it just show they dont read the book and anything can happen!

This is very common, it is a natural defense for herds. It makes basic sense, the herd will move at the same speed making it possible for the baby members to keep up, plus if the babies are born at the same time, you may loose one or two, however if born at say weekly intervals the herd is more likely to loose most babies as predators will select the weakest and you are merely providing them with a moving larder. I had 3 foals born within an 18 hour stretch. 2 of them were maidens!.. a very busy time lol Glad to know all went well
