Hi I was just wondering if anyone could help. I am starting to show my 15hh as a working hunter pony as well as a show hunter. He goes nicely in any bit you could think of so this is just a matter of what looks good and what is the 'norm'. What bits do everyone use for whp& also do you change the bit when you are doing the jumping part/ flat part. Mine is currently just starting to go in a double bridle for shp, many thanks.

For BSPS Any bit for whp but no running gags or hackamores. The severity of the bit may be taken into account. No change of tack between the jumping and conformation stage allowed

I compete my NF in a Wilkie purely because it is the bit that he goes best in on the flat. I have lessons from a successful WH producer and she tells me it is very important not to over-bit your horse as you want them to have a collected pace thoughout the whole course and want the horse to appear light in the hand and not strong into fences. We are currently working on improving his flatwork in a loose ring snaffle so that in time I will compete him in a nicer bit
