SUGGESTIONS FOR AMENDMENTS TO THE RULES FOR 2015
Listed below are the suggestions from members or from previous.
These suggested rule changes have been sent to the Area Chairmen for discussion by
their individual Committees. They will be debated at the Area Chairmen’s Meeting on
June 3rd before being finalised by Council their meeting on 9th June.
Members are welcome to write with their views.
Page 12 RULE 52 Amend to:-
In Lead Rein classes Reins must be of a normal length and not knotted
together or stitched together at a shorter length.
Handles on saddles are permitted but the reins must not be attached to the
handle or to the saddle.
Page 13 RULE 57 Amend to:-
Martingales and any nosebands are permitted in WHP and WSP classes,
but judges must pay particular attention to their effectiveness

STALLIONS
Stallion badges should be worn on ponies bridles (not on the riders)
Pages 23 RULES 114 and 115
Amalgamate the rules and amend the wording to:-
In all Lead Rein Classes the rein MUST go directly from the bit to the
rider’s hand, with no extra aid or attachment to or on the saddle.
Handles on saddles are permitted but the reins MUST NOT be attached to
the handle or the saddle. The reins must be of a normal length and not
knotted together or stitched together at a shorter length.
Pages 21 RULE 96 Amend to:-
Animals eligible for Restricted Show Pony Classes must NOT have been
placed 1st to 5th at the RIHS, (including Pretty Polly) or HOYS in the
Show Pony classes in the previous or current year.
Pages 24 RULE 124 Amend to:-
Animals eligible for Restricted Lead Rein Classes must NOT have been
placed 1st to 5th at the RIHS, (including Pretty Polly) or HOYS in the
Lead Rein classes in the previous or current year.
Pages 26 RULE 137 Amend to:-
Animals eligible for Restricted First Ridden Classes must NOT have been
placed 1st to 5th at the RIHS, (including Pretty Polly) or HOYS in the
First Ridden classes in the previous or current year.
Pages 31 RULE 174 Amend to:-
Animals eligible for Restricted WHP Classes must NOT have been
placed 1st to 5th at the RIHS, or HOYS in the WHP classes in the previous
or current year.
Pages 31 RULE 175 Amend to:-
Animals eligible for Restricted Intermediate WH classes must NOT have
been placed 1st to 5th at the RIHS, or HOYS in the Intermediate WH
classes in the previous or current year.

SECTION L – NURSERY STAKES CLASSES
It was agreed that the increase in age of riders for these classes had not
worked and should be reduced to riders not having attained their 12th
birthday before 1st January in the current year.
Pages 34 RULE 193 Amend to:-
Animals eligible for Restricted Nursery Stakes classes must NOT have
been placed 1st to 5th at the RIHS in the Nursery Stakes in the
previous or current year.
Page 37 RULE 224 –
Delete the word HOYS. And add new rule:-
All HOYS qualifying classes are run in accordance with the HOYS Rules.
Pages 41 RULE 246 Amend to:-
Animals eligible for Restricted SHP classes must NOT have been placed
1st to 5th at the RIHS (including Pretty Polly) or HOYS in the SHP
classes in the previous or current year.
Pages 41 RULE 247 Amend to:-
Animals eligible for Restricted Intermediate SH classes must NOT have
been placed 1st to 5th at the RIHS,or HOYS in the Intermediate SH classes
in the previous or current year.
Pages 43 RULE 246 Amend to:-
Animals eligible for Restricted Lead Rein of Hunter Type classes must
NOT have been placed 1st to 5th at the RIHS, or HOYS in the Lead Rein
of Hunter Type classes in the previous or current year.

Amend to:-
Animals must not have been stables or reside in a Professional
Producers/Trainers yard since 1st March in the current year.
(lessons are exempt)
Pages 52, 54 RULE 333a and 346 Amend to:-
Animals eligible for Restricted Heritage classes must NOT have been
placed 1st to 5th at the RIHS, (including Pretty Polly) or HOYS or Olympia
in the Mountain and Moorland classes in the previous or current year.
Page 51 Rules 324 and 325 Amend to:-

Polly) HOYS or Olympia in the relevant classes in the previous or current
year.
Page 50 Rule 311 –
HERITAGE PRETTY POLLY RIHS Qualifying RIDDEN CLASS
The number of qualifiers to be split into two sections. There would be a
maximum of 16 qualifiers for Small Breeds and 16 qualifiers for Large Breeds in
each section.
The Final would only be one Class but would be split for judging into two
sections, Small Breeds and then Large Breeds and then all ponies would go back
into the ring for the final placings.
Page 72 Rule 462 - WINTER WINNERS – WINTER SEASON
In mixed height classes the section winner to qualify for winter winners
competition
Cards to be presented in the ring to ponies that qualify for the Restricted classes,
these cards to be sent in with entries for Winter Championships.
