Now I don't know about anyone else but it really Annoys me seeing people having a full on rant on threads on here and facebook about ‘producers’ and how you cannot beat them they shouldn’t go to certain shows as its not fair bla bla blaa.. Sore loser comes to mind. If you have a quality pony then why shouldn’t you be allowed to have fun and take it to championship shows.. Life doesn’t revolve around rihs, hoys and olympia you can have fun inbetween!! If you would rather win at small shows week in week out then you do that but for god sake quit moaning when quality ponies go to the championship shows and win!! And if you cant beat them instead of saying it is only the ‘face’ that won have people every tried thinking that infact the pony is far more quality than their own.. Not being horrible there with that statement but sick and tired of seeing people contantly moan!!! Some of these ponies I see..Yes they are with very well known riders BUT they are unbelievable to look at and go perfect they are in a league I would never moan if I was beat by them id be happy that I stood next to them. I have been produced in my younger days and I did win a lot as my pony at the time was very unusual so he did stand out in the ring but at the same time I was also beat. I have worked for producers been in the ring watched them be beat with horses that are bloody lovely.
Sorry rant over.

I agree with you....their ponies come out looking like super models, I'm sure the quarter marks are tatoo'd in place, the makeup puts Cheryl Coles to shame, everything looks and is perfect. The ponies are the top ponies in the whole country and they deserve the wins they get
Its so blooming demoralising hahaaaaa!! ...Do they never have the horse equivalent of bad hair days or acne??
I've never moaned about it and never would
I've seen some very 'odd' results though where ponies that even to my sleep deprived eyes didnt go well, messed up their show and still won. Thats when the howlers start to howl
We've all heard the stories of steroids, bought judges, fixed tickets...is it all sour grapes, back biting and bad sportsmanship?
No idea. And quite frankly I dont think most people care. You do you're best with what you have and hope to give them a run for their money and enjoy the day!!!!!

Oh yes I understand fixing of shows but that is the judge who is in the wrong! It's just everywhere you see people moaning and you look at the ponies and think yeah it's nice but what is winning the classes your in you cannot fault. Makes the sport not enjoyable as then people start to bicker with each other, like today I commented on a thread as I was sick and tired seeing a woman put down shows so much and riders and producers she was making a right show of herself

There was a thread on Equifest FB yesterday started with someone moaning about cost of stables and turned into one huge producer bashing session, made for interesting reading! I was picturing these people sat tap-tapping on their phone and computers, eyes popping out of their heads, getting redder and redder thinking up the next rant. Producers are paid to get results and put a hell of a lot of hard work into it but they aren't the devil incarnate. I pride myself on doing my own ponies and over the years have been known to beat producers at championship shows, it can be done, you just have to up your game and not be so bloody defeatist! We've also been down the line to same ponies on other days, that's showing, like or lump it. There was a day when winning your local agricultural show was a massive thing - now they are dissed, which seems daft as the same ponies go, same judging panels apply and you get prize money!

Haha I have read that I feel sorry for the poor girl who started the thread. People just suddenly made the post a hatred against the show which I think is wrong. Oh definitely you can tell who was really taking it seriously to shoot down all well known faces, laughable isn't it. And I completely agree with you yes I was produced myself when younger but then when we moved away and I started on my own we still got the same results as have always searched high and low for the ponies we wanted for the ring, don't get me wrong with my nerves I was dropped quite a few times as would always get a wrong leg I only blamed myself no one else. If the parents are saying this though makes me wonder how sour they are actually turning there children when they come out the ring without a red rosette. Some days you can be top and some days you can be bottom. I have actually just bought a chestnut C Mare with 4 white socks and white markings on her face now confirmation wise she is great but I know if I come under a judge who does not like white then that day I will be right at the bottom!! But im already over it now lol. I am going to attend as many agricultural shows and breed shows as I can as I still think they are great fun. After all the set backs ive had and bad luck Im just excited to get out and have some fun.

Really annoys me when people complain about producers, these top producers work tirelessly to produce and turn the ponies out to the highest standard, the clients pay the entry fees like everyone else so are entitled to enter the class. I for one have experienced- very rarely I will admit, that when I have beaten a producers pony I feel a great sense of achievement. I think alot of people don't want the competition, so will find anything they can to complain about, judges, producers or anything so that they feel they have a better chance of winning. Where is the satisfaction in that

Where is the satisfaction in that I could not agree more!!!! I was head girl for 2 years with a producer & we ran ourselves ragged in all weathers & hours to make sure everything was as perfect as it can be with horses and once their sorted it's the parents and children!

Yes exactly I have worked for producers I don't think people realise you are up at daft o clock to get them horses ready to look and go how they do in the ring! They deserve everything they get and the clients can afford the ponies they have. It's a sport at the end of the day and if you can't take getting beat then think you need to call it a day. I'm glad people are agreeing thought it was me when I have been reading threads but thankfully no it's not just me!!

Sadly this is why I don't take my horse to any LOCAL show, just for fun, just for the experience. Only because of a small minority of bigots feel they are champions already. I don't want to be talked about, slagged off etc because I have so and so pony, who was sold to me by so and so and we know so and so.

Oh I can understand you completely there yes I know how you feel I have just sold a well known horse and god what havoc it caused owning him with all the bickering!! I will stick local but local to me I have myerscough, barton, bold so I can go to bsps novices there. I went to a show out the way a few weeks back to get my horse out as he is very very quirky and it was great as I knew no one there so no one could talk about it. It is a shame but unfortunately that is how people are now more and more and its the same people who then when they do go county level or even bsps they moan about the judges for not placing them top you win some and you lose some.

Hi Roxy it is very sad because these people can actually make owning a pony miserable. You feel you are bottom rung of the ladder, with them and their groupies, up there and looking down on you. These people win week in week out, at the local show (especially when they have peers on the committee). But doubt cheating/bent rules get you far, when you are lucky enough to be up against the best. Suck it up lol.

Yeap it is I had to really think about if I could be bothered with the drama and in the end I cut everyone off and now do everything on my own, I had a welsh Mare who I struggled with a lot and wanted to take her close to see how she reacted out, the people you don't want to be nosying are always there typical, that's always the way in the end I didn't take her as couldn't be bothered with people commenting about her, we took her royal welsh for her first ever show and she proved everyone wrong and even myself actually haha they never commented on her badly again. Luckily we did have very good ponies and were always at the big shows I've just sold them now and now got a novice C so going miss main shows this year but will be out for a good few novices later on having fun and not complaining about not winning lol.

I have a top class pony who jumped at hoys in 2011 but unfortunately due to an injury didnt compete for 18months. Last year I bought a complete novice and we had so much fun taking him to local agricultural shows to gain experience and we started to bring back our other pony at these shows too. Nobody said anything (well not that I heard!!) and tbh I have decided that hoys and RI are not the most important thing. Its supposed to be an enjoyable hobby and thats what I treat it as. I have many friends who are producers and I admire the amount of work they put in, the travelling and the unsociable hours (I dont do silly oclock starts now) and think they deserve credit. If we do beat a produced pony then great!! I will continue to enjoy my ponies and the shows I do

That is a shame at least he is back up to scratch now. Yes the hours are crazy but its something we do so we enjoy I remember hoys horses showing all Saturday went out to the party and never went to bed had to start getting horses ready at 3 and then we were busy all day until after supreme I was proud that I stayed up for so long but I loved it I came home thinking I can do all nighters no problem tried it went to bed!! So it was just horses that kept me awake im glad I worked for producers as the experience is great and if people have have such a problem with them winning all the time they need to get on the inside to see all the work and time put in. With this new pony again we are going to try ri, hoys and Olympia next year but try find some of the agricultural and championship medal shows in-between as I love them shows and think its great to support them to keep the medals going. It is always good to beat a very nice produced pony as we are always very critical of our own so when it happens you know your pony is in tip top shape and going how it should
