What is everyones view on feeding. was reccomended to use Topspec and I do believe it is good stuff. Feel, though, it's gone right to my lead rein pony's head! Bought the cool conditioning cubes. Perhaps i should cut back/ down on hard feed until he is regular work. What is the best thing to feed him to help him keep his condition in this vile weather and to stop him from going a bit mad?!. I have after all got to put a four year old child on top. What is the old saying sparkle without fizz. Any suggestions greatly received.

we use calm and condition soaked one scoop makes 2 massive feeds for full sized horses so would be very economical for a pony!

Try asking for middlings or sharps- Marriages make it so if your feed merchant don't already stock it they can perhaps order some in.

Try Sumo - have had a lot of success with it. Non heating and suitable for lamanitics, it is 50% oil. Some ponies don't like the taste though, best to build it up slow. About £19 per bag

well when you have one allergic to oats barley soya wheat carrots, doesnt leave much i am a firm beliver in fibre based diet for all, after all they were never meant to be grain eaters ! I use alfa a in moderation, grass nuts during the winter and a little speedi beet if needs a little more condition, the good quality hat or haylage ( if he is having haylage we dont even give the alfa a) He has plenty of energy he is well covered and sane While a baby he was on a good quality stud based feed, and a balancer, but i have been unable to find a balancer without soya or wheetfeed. But is perfectly well at the moment

Why does a lead rein pony need any hard feed? Surely good quality hay and the odd carrot is enough.

I swear by Spillers High Fibre Cubes, I keep feeding as simple as I can, have 10 on them and they are all in great condition, I just add a spot of Speedibeet for a change for them, all bright eyed and bushy tailed ;D ;D oh and forgot, all on adlib hay ;D ;D
