My friend has a 5 year old gelding who is passported with the Dartmoor pony society but is suspected Welsh x Dartmoor. How should she turn him out for shows and what classes could she do with him (inhand mainly at the moment) Pic taken when he was about 3 And a more recent photo

What colour is his passport? Pure Dartmoors have green passports.

I think its a green one although my friend said she was told he couldn't be registered as a pure Dartmoor as his passport states no defined breeding. He was from a rescue

Dartmoors can only be registered if both parents are registered so it's very unlikely that he's a pure bred. Maybe he's a Dartmoor Hill Pony which is different too and not shown in Dartmoor classes due to no registration.
Seen as he's not registered he would need to be pulled, plaited and trimmed as either a show hunter or a show pony. I am sure he would do nicely in either of these classes.
I only have registered natives so maybe someone that knows more about show hunters or show ponies can advise you better.
