Well call me an old grump but I have had enough of the snow now. It was lovely for a couple of days and Iit is fine if you have no responsibilties and can be at home all day just looking out on it and admiring it but otherwise........
I didn't even miss school (because I am a 5 day boarder) and now I am at home for the weekend I am wondering what time I am going to get to the yard tomorrow. I usually cycle the 5 miles and now I have to rely on my dad to get me there which I hate doing. My friend at the yard said it is really difficult to exercise them. The indoor school is booked almost solid and if you ride out on it their feet ball up with balls of ice. (please see advice and tips thread). Fortunately still horses turning out in it so not cooped up in their stables all day.
So now sitting up in bed at this ungodly hour worrying about it. How do other people cope in snow when they have lots of other duties and cares?

Love it - Ponies living out with ad lib hay, finding the extra water carrying tough as we dont have running water but have done nothing else but sledge sledge sledge with the kids in our spare time since it arrived. Great fun.

I've had enough of the snow too.
The lane which is the main access for my children's school is absolutely treacherous, solid thick ice all the way across. I phoned the council and put in a request for it to be gritted on friday, saw the gritter out on saturday night on the main road which passes the end of the lane. Guess what, lane still hasn't been gritted. There are still eejits driving along it to drop off children, if a child was to slip or fall in front of a car there is no way the car would stop. Even the grit bin on the lane is empty, so we can't do anything about it ourselves.
So I rang them again this morning, stressing that it is the main access for the school and how dangerous it was, was told the grit is in short supply so they are saving it for the main roads! I tell you what, when a child gets hurt I am on the phone to the news and papers pronto, it's bl**dy ridiculous.

I'm with mistymum - what snow? My little girl is very upset that she keeps seeing snow on telly and on the weather forecast, and we never get any worth mentioning...
