Hi everyone! This is my first foal I have bred, her name is Mimi. She is out of a 15/15.1hh ISH mare and by a 16.2hh Irish Draught stallion. I am so surprised with how big she is, foals by another similarly sized mare by the same stallion are/were always smaller. She is currently 12hh at just under three months. She is a keeper so it doesn't really matter, but I guess I could plan which showing classes I can aim for (if she's good enough, of course!) What do people think? Will she be as tall as her sire? The string test says 15.2, has anyone had any luck with this? Thanks for looking

I have a just turned 2 year old out of similar size parents (15.2 hack dam and 16.2 sire kwpn) and we are hoping she will make atleast 16hh...I did do the string test and it came out to say she will make 16.1 which a few people think she is on track to make!! she was around 13hh at 6 months, 14.1 at 18 months and just turned 2 standing around 15hh bum high. hope this helps... lovely filly!! xx

Oh great, thanks for the measurements, very handy! My filly won't be that tall I don't think, when did you do the string test? Does it work on foals?

I did it at around 18 months old as I had read it isn't as accurate when they are under 18 months although if you google I think there is a separate 'foal string test' I remember seeing but I don't think it was as accurate. Hope this helps
