M&M first ridden only half forward 80% of which did shockingly bad shows! Thistle down pony won followed by a Shetland who was rightly moved from the bottom to second! Cuddy won by the Cleveland bay personally I thought the Cleveland bay part bred was fantastic!

M&M lead rein results?

Post by Newlandwelshies on Jul 10, 2014 19:51:42 GMT
M&M lead rein was won by a grey, sorry forgot the name. Huge class forward, think 39, nose to tale in the ring, made two line ups and no idea how they could judge. A lovely grey won, was pulled first after the go around and stayed there.
Agree with delbel re the m and m first ridden. The winner was pulled in first and did a very nice show. After that mistake after mistake. The little shetland who went last went amazingly and the little girl on top had the biggest smile i have seen on anyone's face all day. She did very well and rightly brought up to second, and arguably could have gone first. No idea who she was but she should have been very proud today. There was also a lovely section b who placed fourth with a very small little boy on top and also gave a lovely show. There were 13 in the line up and apart from the aforementioned there were alot of mistakes and not what i would have expected at yorkshire. Shame.
The little lead rein look champion and the first ridden reserve.

Anyone know who took the lr shp, watched it and the winner went lovely, although so did a lot of others, but cannot remember who it was... Pulled first and stayed first. I was later told it was chitty chitty bang bang, but not sure if it was correct. thanks in advance.

Think there was only mine not forward in the M&M LR class and although the judge would have loved her from what she chose I was actually glad we didn't get her there as the class was far too big for the ring. They couldn't even walk round continuously as there were too many in. I hope other people will write to the GYS to ask for it to be moved back into the main ring or at least the White rose ring. Pleased to see the dartie that was next to last to go pulled up to third. Was well deserved, winner was a lovely pony, were a couple I'd have had higher but wouldn't take anything away from anyone in that class today.

Agreed Phillipa, needs to be in at least the white rose ring if that many entries are to be accepted, surely there must be a safety element here, if not entries should be limited. Can i also put on record the lady judge in the m&m lr and fr was very good with all the children, and gave each and everyone her full attention and assistance as required, and it was lovely to see.

Lead rein SHp winner was Emmerson's Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Lead rein m and m was Danwood Dream Maker.
I totally agree Philippa, it was crazy having that amount of ponies in that poky ring. They never got a proper walk, just shuffled which probably would have helped some of the ponies settle better. There was nothing going on in white rose after intermediates finished for ages. Could have been nasty if a child had come off during the freaky tannoy crackling, ponies scattering in all directions. Lots of lovely ponies in just a shame they hadn't the room to show themselves off better before the pull.

thanks karen, it was my nine year old that recognised chitty chitty bang bang and was delighted to watch them win! She is amazing for detail and has only ever seen this pony on the top spec adverts, but thought maybe Jennifer had gotten it wrong, but not so, really pleased to see them take the hoys ticket. Went first and beautifully to a set show. x

The Ridings ring is not suitable for any more than 10 in a class. The collecting ring is dangerous and an accident waiting to happen.
I hope GYS take note, Not sure where they could fit another ring in. But its so big now maybe they should think about a 4th day

Agree totally with comments about the ring for the LR M&M, I was in the class and we could barely move, not good at all. I hope it gets moved to another ring for next year, the M&M mini classes are always well filled, so can't understand why they use the smallest ring! Anyway, that said, my 4 year old daughter and our darty thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and despite not being placed, we were pleased with our pony. Well done to the winners, some fabulous ponies forward

comanchediva, sorry names are not my best today but the inhand welsh d was taken by a stunningly black mare, who also took champion beating the stallion in reserve.
Any idea what took the welsh b's mare/gelding 4years and over?

It was ever thus for the M&M LR there were 42 in the class when my daughter and her 4 year old pony won it in 2007. The judge on that occasion was sensible enough to split the class into odd and even numbers and then bring them back to award the rosettes. Good luck to anyone who is brave enough to enter

It was potential carnage when the tannoy started crackling right behind the line up which was jammed in 2 lines up against the fence.

It was bad enough yesterday when a large class of NNP coloured youngstock were in and the donkeys waiting for their classes started braying!! Goodness knows how all those ponies even managed to walk round that ring today. IMO that ring is only big enough for the in hand classes and that's a tight fit for some classes.
