As above really. Any advice needed please for pros,cons, stories and costs involved. I am toying with the idea of getting my mare AI'd.

Pro's: Wider choice of stallions Remove risk of stallion injuring the mare Sterile Can be more precise with exactly when it's inserted.
Con's: More expensive.

Agree with sjw87, by the time you have paid vets, transport of straws, stabling is needed, the place I used also had to pay for use of stocks, it worked out very expensive to AI. I always try and go for natural.

Always ask for pregnancy rates of the stallion concerned and for whoever is actually doing the AI. The received wisdom is that in general natural covering is easier to get them in foal than AI with chilled with AI with frozen below that, but chilled does need correct handling - if it warms up it isn't so good.
