I was just wondering.......my mare is 15 years old now and has had one foal, to which is now a 4 year old and I am contemplating putting her in foal again. The stallion that I used last time (to which produced an amazing foal) is now only frozen semen.....is it still advisable to use him given the fact it will be 5 years since she was last in foal (she was AI'd last time and she didn't take the first time, but did the second) or am I best to look for a different stallion (to which I do have a couple in mind)??

What are you wondering about, unless you prefer the other stallions you have in mind?Your mare isn't old at 15yo and she has held to AI before so no problem there and as you are very happy with the offspring from the first stallion I'd try him again,if it doesn't work go to plan B!

I wouldn't worry about her last foaling date.
I can only suggest that if you are tempted and the combination worked well for you the first time, go for it.
A suggestion would maybe be to contact an experienced Repo vet and arrange for them to come over and examine the mare before booking the semen. If they are satisfied her overies are fully functional then I cannot see why not.
