Having aquired a successful show hack in 2011 as she would no longer show as she was destined to be pts... she is extremely well schooled has has led a boring life.... our problem is riding on the right rein.her teeth ,back ( top to tail physio) and saddle are all fine...she doesnt go forward and if you put on to much leg stops dead and cow kicks.. encouragement with the whip makes it worse.. she is by Kilvington Scoundrel. Any advice would be great. She goes beautifully on the left rein. Lunges fine on the right.

Based purely on what you've said I wonder if something hurts where the leg goes - did your physio include her ribs? Ours used to check them, there can be a problem with the muscles there. Or ulcers maybe? Unless being on the right rein brings back memories of the show ring? Or perhaps she stopped showing because she wouldn't go on the right rein because she hurt? Sorry, just following my own train of thought here. How is she on right hand bends out on hacks? I'm a great believer in horses having a reason to do odd things, they don't just do them out of thin air, so to speak, we just have to think like a horse and find out what it is.

Physio said saddle area was tight..(every inch of here was treated)probably due to saddle being to big previously... I definitely think its in her head..she is extremely sensitive and clever...unfortunately she doesnt hack out but going to and from menage she is fine... on the back of all this yesterday she went like a dream only difference being I stayed in sitting trot..hopefully ive turned a corner.
