A friend is considering purchasing a Black Country Classic Saddle for showing. I have never tried one so I was just wondering whether anyone had experience of them and what they thought?

I have two horses and both have black country saddles...I totally love these saddles. The amount of people that comment and when they have rode on it they too say it is so comfy! Mine go on my Riding Horse (this was made to template and had extras put on it, expensive saddle but worth every penny) and the other is on my quite high withered veteran Hack, to which this saddle was bought second hand, but was only 6 months old when I actually bought it off a friend.

I have 2 one for my heavy weight and middle weight show hunters and they are the best saddles ever. Worth every penny and if your going for a show saddle pay the extra for the doe skin seat and knee.. you stick to it and very soft and comfortable

I love the look of them but unfortunately the 'fit' didn't suit our pony (but that has been the case with a lot of saddles so not a criticism of the BC saddle!).

We have sold all our old fylde saddles and moved everything on to Black Country. Even our back lady commented on how good they were.
Great service too and they happily adjust / re-flock them for you once they have bedded in

Black Country are nice saddles, just make sure you have a good fitter, I have seen them very poorly fitted.

Love these saddles. The only saddle my exmoor will go in, tried everything on him and he'd just keep bronking until he had a Black Country on!

I don't know about that particular model, but my elderly TBX, who has always been really awkward to fit, loves his Black Country saddle, and so do I - it is so comfy. I knew I would need a made-to-measure saddle when I bought it about five years ago due to the fact that he is more muscled on one side but, after trying numerous saddles, the only one which sat properly on his back - without tipping backwards or forwards - was a Black Country dressage saddle. However, I wanted a GP for him as I still wanted to be able to jump in it at that time and Black Country couldn't have been more helpful; they made me a GP saddle on a dressage tree, at no extra cost. I love this saddle so much that, once I decide to finally retire him (he is 26 now), I am hoping I can get it adjusted to fit my Highland mare.

I love the look of them but unfortunately the 'fit' didn't suit our pony (but that has been the case with a lot of saddles so not a criticism of the BC saddle!). have you tried the new 'Poppy' style just for ponies?

We have now changed all our saddles to black country ones. The kids love them and even my youngest who didn't want to ride has decided to as the saddle is so comfy. The ponies have never gone better and before I had one I wouldn't have believed what a difference they could make The customer service is second to none can't recomend them highly enough. I can email pics but have no idea how to put them on here
