This is my 5 year old horse, he is still very green but I am hoping to do a bit of showing with him in the new year. I show native ponies so I have limited experience with horse classes and I don't think he really fits into any specific class! He is about 15.1/15.2hh and has a lot of bone which I'm not sure the photo really shows. I have been told to hog him and compete him as a cob. Does this seem right? I don't want to hog him then regret it! Any comments would be much appreciated, thanks!
Ps I realise he has a bit of a long back which doesn't really help his conformation

Here he is under saddle - this is last year so he has matured a bit!

I would say small hunter classes and working hunter if he jumps. Think he would do well at local level. With a straight cut saddle he wouldn't look so long, his saddle in the pics is quite far forward, if you push it back a bit it will help make him look shorter

Yes he loves to jump and I will be doing working hunters with him over the winter. I am intending to get him a straight cut WH saddle soon which should help show off his shoulder! I will try setting the saddle back a bit too thanks for the help

I would deffo say plait him up and do the hunters, if he deepens up as he matures you could well find yourself hogging him good luck xxx

I like him too! A worker or small hunter. Don't hog! Try a show saddle with a larger seat. Good luck
