Just testing the water, by asking, is anyone out there looking for a companion pony?
After 2 years of trying, we've come to the realisation our 13.2hh Section D gelding is not going to come sound.
He's a gent to have around, desperate to please and just loves company and attention.
As he is only 11 years old, I am struggling to come to terms with having him 'put down' and need to explore any alternatives.
He has had a lifetime of competition is used to be out each weekend and has been a faithful, reliable little WHP.
He is quiet, trusting and easy in all respects.
Please make contact for full information.
With thanks

I too am just testing the water here, but my 75 year old mother lost her pony earlier this year. I've suggested she gets another as it's good for her both physically and mentally. But the pony must be an angel, not bargy or pushy, as she is older despite being fit I'd rather she wasn't pushed over or trampled. If your pony is an angel to handle, what soundness issues does he have??? Will he require regular vet and meds? What we could offer is a lovely home, grazing 24/7 in summer and daily in winter. Lovely stabling at her friends own yard. Where abouts are you???

Hi Chalky284, thank you for your response. We are based in Derbyshire. (with transport)
His unsoundness is caused by a weakness in his sacroiliac joint. this is only visible in trot. He requires no vet treatment or medication as it is a weakness which can't be strengthened as opposed to an injury requiring treatment. He is healthy in all other respects, but is now unable to compete.
I would describe him as mannerly, gentle and respectful. He doesn't bite, nap, push, pull or rear. He is handled by our whole family during his daily routine and lives at our home. He thrives on regular contact and is just lovely to have around. Where are you based please? If you like, I could forward photographs? Thank you, once again

Hi, sorry to jump on your post. If you don't mind could you message me the symptoms your pony has, and the treatment. I think my gelding has something similar but looking online it can be hard for vet to diganose. Thank you

Hi dodger, my mother is based in Wolviston just on the Durham/Cleveland border. I'll speak to her and see what she says. Many thanks for your info.
