I enjoy the day, I love my kids, i'm not a bahhh humbug kind of person but my gawd it seems to get harder - or is it me getting older? We always host it because no one else can cope with our numbers !!!
With 5 kids who have the most ridiculous age gaps known to man, family on both sides, ponies, dogs, both of us work and a partridge in a pear treeeee. My moans are:
Shopping ! full stop, end of !
Rude people and queues (see above)
Internet shopping - adding things to you're 'bag' or 'trolley' and not being told UNTILL YOU HIT CHECKOUT that some are sold out and the others cant be posted untill January 2015 grrrrrrrrr
Frozen is now my most hated film ( Let it go let it go) having watched it 378 times along with all the after sales cash in toys - £24 for a snow globe stick thing...really??
Food preparation, lists, peeling, prepping and then planning around having enough left over for bubble and squeak on Boxing day
An Xmas booze shop bill that could feed a small army
Hyper kids pre Xmas, happy for about an hour at Xmas, miserable and grumpy post Xmas
Cards - I've stopped sending them so gave money to charity but forget to tell anyone so they all think i'm rude
Board games or charades - Last year world war 3 broke out over Rapidough and almost ended in fisty cuffs between my 2 eldest topped off by my mother getting upset and having an asthma fit
I do enjoy it but the build up is hard work. So a good moan is allowed and sometimes needed
