Hi all, I have another to add to the list of cheats and thieves!!! Her name is Miss Joanna Smith, username JOBIE. I agreed to buy a Fylde double bridle and bits as per her advertisement for £70. I made a direct transfer to her bank account (PayPal would have been preferable, but she did not have an account) and no bridle arrived. I have had 6 weeks of excuses-first she claimed that the packaging had been damaged and the item returned to her as the delivery address was not visible. She promised to dispatch it next day delivery. Then she claimed she had forgot before proceeding on a trip to Liverpool and would again dispatch next day deliver. Then she claimed to have sent it to the wrong person-please??? However she offered to send me another as she claimed to have 4 of the exact same bridle-strange as she only advertised 1 available. Now she has completed broken any communication. My husband did manage to speak to her briefly from his work mobile when she claimed to have posted it and would provide tracking and postage details. Imagine my surprise when these have not materialised. I have of course contacted the police, but I guess the fraud Squad have bigger fish to fry unfortunately. So, of anyone has any other info about young Miss Joanna Smith, aka JOBIE, please let me know. As a non working mum with 2 very young children, we unfortunately have to be careful with our money and £70 wasted thanks to some dishonest young lady is a hard pill to swallow! I have been showing for over 25 years, and this is thankfully the first time I have experienced such dishonesty and it saddens me that it can be openly conducted on what is otherwise a fun and useful website. Steer clear of this young lady-here endeth the lesson.

That's awful! And her user name jobie is Scottish slang for poo! Hmm says a lot! Hope you get your money back? If you have her bank details I know it's a long shot but why not write to the bank with her details explaining that you think it could be fraud... Her account would probably be frozen at the very least!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WORD OF WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!SCAMMERS OUT THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been scammed - never put your contact details on a thread that can be seen by all. I have lost £380 by someone scamming me and I simply wanted to buy a decent second hand saddle. She obviously picked my number up off here and text me saying she had the saddle I was looking for. She sent me pictures etc and I (stupidly in hindsight!!!) fell for it. She said she didn't use Paypal and alarm bells did start to ring but I then spoke to her and she was so "nice" that I decided that it would be ok! she even said she would throw in a Fylde numnah as she didn't need it any more! So I transferred the money and have not heard from her since or had delivery of the saddle!! She will not answer my calls or reply to messages. She has used various names: daniellePeters77@outlook.com, louisebarrett88@outlook.com, p eastwood, various telephone numbers: 07858 054619 and 07712 350504 (not sure that one is working anymore!)
PLEASE BE CAREFUL!!
I have lost money to her, I don't want her to benefit from anyone else falling for it!! Please share this message with everyone you know.
I have reported her to the ActionFraud run by the police so hopefully they will be onto her now ........

This is the same girl...going by Mel penfold. Wanting to sell a Pessoa & 2 Albion saddles...having a tack room clear out. Said I'd pay 1/2 the money by pay pal & rest when I got saddles but she couldn't access her paypal. Eventually she said shed take £100 deposit via bank transfer. I though something was strange so I looked on here & her mobile number matched. She seems so nice & added me on Facebook etc. beware!!!!!

What bothers me is the number of new members that only seem to see the site as a free form of advertising, none of them appear to read the rules or understand the spirit of the site

Please tell me if I am over thinking, being too suspicious or just genuinley out of order. However, I have today been contacted with details of a saddle for sale in response to my wanted ad on HG. The saddle was exactly what I wanted and as my advert wasnt very specific, I was thrilled. Discussions with the seller went on and they agreed that I could pay via paypal and that they would send the saddle via a courier so it was tracked if I got the address and payment before 2pm today. I agreed to buy the saddle and was then told that their paypal wasnt working and that it would be best to pay into their bank - which I refused to do. I said I would happily wait until it was sorted and the seller then tried to assure me that they were genuine and offered their full details, addresses etc. So I then offered to drive 1 hour 40 minutes to pick the saddle up and I was then advised that the courier had already been paid for. It was then offered that I paid x amount as a deposit with the rest to follow once it arrived. I agreed this and said I would pay later on in the afternoon when I was home as I am with Natwest and in order to make an online payment you need a card reader. I had a text from the seller to advise that it had been collected at 2:30pm and that they would get the tracking information over to me later on. Later came (about 5:30 when I finished work) and I was asked to text them when I had put the deposit in. As I hadn't done it yet and couldn't until I was home, I asked for the trackig info as I hadn't received it. They then said that they hadn't either and that it could take a few hours. This made me even more suspicious (call me paranoid) so I said I wouldn't pay the deposit until I had proof of purchase I.e. a receipt, confirmation email, tracking details etc. Then I was told that it could be the morning when they got it - they said it was done via DPD who I know are very efficient so this again concerned me.
Discussion s have continued and I am still refusing to hand over any money until they have confirmation that it has been sent. As I said to them, I am not refusing to pay I just want confirmation that it has actually been sent before I did so due to all of the horror stories that you hear. I also said that if it has genuinley been sent hen there shouldnt be a problem as I will pay as soon as I receive confirmation but they are still insisting that I send it over tonight else they may have to cancel the courier but I am sticking to my gums and have again said that I would pick it up.
Am I being out of order by wanting confirmation first and beimg paranoid or am I right to be suspicious? I'm just wary of all these people who are hit by scammers and dont fancy being a victim myself!!

Can you even cancel a courier or are they just trying to get out of being caught out?

Yes I saw that, which is why I messaged Hoochie initially as I was suspicious from the start. I find it odd that I text the person asking them to follow me on HG and Hoochie did but I have since had a response from Hoochie to say I have the wrong person. I think I will have to assume it is not them as I have no proof. Apologies to Hoochie if it genuinley isnt you.
I have text the person asking them to send me a message on HG so I know who they are - I'm still waiting. Apparently the saddle is on it's way anyway and I can pay when I receive it, which should be tomorrow. I'm half debating just to return it if something does show as it all seems very odd to me...
Will keep you all updated and will be reporting this to the police after Wednesday has passedjust to air on the side of caution.

If the saddle shows i will eat my hat, this has got poppys name written all over it. Seems very odd that you text her asking to follow you and hoochie did, yet hoochie messaged saying its not them. All seems very suspicious, does she put 'hun' alot on the texts?
Edited to add, it is defintely poppy, go on the link below and click on the top post, read the comments off people, the number thats been texting you has been used before to scam people
