Gellihaf Siriol (Haf, which is Welsh for Summer) is a rising 10yo chestnut mare. Very low milage - has been a broodmare, shown inhand and otherwise just hacked out before coming to us. Cerys has been schooling her on and greatly improved her way of going this winter. Haf has excellent conformation and is a very honest pony with a heart of gold. She has never bucked or reared to my knowledge, and is ridden at all times in a loose ring French link snaffle.
Haf has only recently started jumping, as our options are fairly limited at this time of year due to limited light and ground conditions, but has happily jumped barrels and Christmas trees (our makeshift hedge!) and was popping logs and going up and down steps out on a hunt ride last Sunday. She's also been up and down steep inclines and banks with no hesitation. I believe she would make a great working hunter pony. Her flatwork does need further work - she works in a lovely outline in walk and reasonably consistently in trot. She will also be a great hunting pony for a capable child or small teenager / adult as her jumping develops.
She has also been out twice with the Cheshire Bloodhounds, ridden - in the same loose ring snaffle - by my 11yo daughter. She is willing and responsive but mannerly.
Haf lives in or out - as a native pony she is a good doer and would need her weight monitoring in the Spring. She is good with the farrier and loads easily into my horsebox - haven't tried her in a trailer. She travels well on her own or with another pony, and will stand on her own on the box. She was clipped for the first time in the autumn, and while a little nervous she stood quietly after being allowed to get used to the noise and feel of the clippers.
We will continue to work with Haf until she finds her next perfect home, and her price will rise accordingly. So if you're looking for a lovely pony with great potential, grab a bargain now!
Her tack & rugs could be available by negotiation if required.
Haf will be out regularly with the Cheshire Bloodhounds through the rest of the season if anyone wishes to see her hunting. Please contact me for details of the Meets. We also plan to take her for some XC training in February if she is still with us - we are in no hurry to sell, but wanted to offer her now in case anyone wants to work with her pre season, so she's ready for showing in the Spring.
ETA: If Haf was a D and 6 inches taller she would not be for sale. Unfortunately my daughter's legs keep on growing and she will need a bigger pony.
Edited to add these three new photos of Haf, ridden yesterday by 11yo Cerys, who is 5'2". Excuse the mud and winter woollies - Haf lives out.
Haf on the right, waiting to set off on a Cheshire Bloodhounds hunt ride
First ever jumping session
First time jumping barrels (apologies for the rubbish picture quality - light was fading and I only had my old iPhone camera with me)
Jumping our makeshift hedge - she also jumped it with the trees much closer together forming a bigger obstacle, but my phone battery had died by then! I will try to get better jumping photos this weekend if weather / ground conditions allow.
Cantering up a bank
Waiting quietly to move off at the start of the hunt
Standing quietly during a break point out hunting for the first time
Cantering out on her first hunt
