Hi all I have a two year colt who is full of beans he goes out twice a day for a hour and 5hrs in field on a weekend I am trying my best to keep him sane!! He's a little sod when I try put his headcollar on ect if I don't have the rope in his mouth he rears ect he's good as gold when he's got something in his mouth but a nightmare if he hasn't will he stay like this biting all his stallion life or does it get better?? Thanks any comments greatly received

Are you going to use him for breeding? If not then geld, that is the most sure way to stop this. None of my stallions bit and tbh I would not have kept one on entire that did, he is likely to be a real handful when covering. I think you have missed the golden hour, ie to have given him a hard smack the first time he bit you. Stallions must have good maners. I hope you are wearing a hard hat when you handle him if he is rearing, it only takes a slight knock to the head to cause severe and permanant injuries, also gloves and suitable footwear.

Yes I do wear a hat when dealing with him the old owners didn't turn him out so he has no social skills as such smacking him just does work he doesn't care I really want to keep him entire so I might turn him out for a month or so

I think gelding him would be the best option. As gillwales says stallions must have manners. Why do you want to keep him entire? Do you intend breeding from him?
