Balanced support reins have a lot of good reviews...

I would be very interested in the answer to this as well, because my lead rein pony is the same! She is very 'faffy' with her head, always trying to rub up against you and nudging, it's annoying.

How about on the LR.. The child has no reins and you lead her if there's nothing to pull against maybe she will realise there's no point...

That's a good idea, do you reckon no reins but side reins so she still has to work in an outline? Or just nothing attached to the bit? Erm... could try both ways, i dont actually do LR but from riding my self i had a pony who was very strong so we used the pessoa on the lunge so she argued with herself and the rode on the lunge with no reins so again she had nothing to pull against.. i think it worked. id probably go without first as youll have hold anyway, just so she hasnt nothing to pull against.. do you vary her work much?

I used to have a ridden pony who fir the first ten mins had to be in a harbridge or he spooked me off. After a few weeks he no longer needed them. If I recall the feeling of them, I doubt snatching would be possible. Might break a naughty habit.

Try on the LR without any contact & then slowly increase contact until she starts to react - at that point take note of any pressure on her mouth, neck, back etc & identify/treat/eliminate problems from there. Our LR pony used to 'play' with the bit & throw his head in the air, I thought it was a problem with his teeth but was actually pain in his neck/wither so be prepared to carry out a thorough check!

We had a fr pony who did this, when a bigger jockey was on board he wanted to get round as soon as he could so they would get off, turned out he had thickening of the suspesory ligament in his hind leg. I would get the physio to do a work up, just to rule anything out.
