Looking for a bit for my horse to try He was broken in a happy mouth with other owner so found it really hard to get him used to a normal bit, he has been schooled in a normal jointed snaffle but backed off a bit on this bit and didnt like the pinching action on the tongue, he is very light in the mouth, have tried a wilkie and he was good in this bit had better contact, however didn't like the pinching again as was a normal jointed bit, also judges aren't a fan on the wilkie, he's been in a French link eggbutt with the lozenge in middle for no pinching and found he was a bit strong and could easily evade. He's been in a neue schule snaffle with lozenge for over a year now and this has been great, however more recently because in a lot of work, I've noticed he can evade the contact recently with the bit, when in canter can occasionally be above contact or pull/lean on the bit. I think he's just got used to this bit and needs changing, he's really light and soft in the mouth as he is only 6 and acts like a baby. Any suggestions for me to try? For the shows

Try a neue Schule hanging cheek, will give some poll pressure but is still a gentle snaffle

Before changing the bit I would get an instructor in to see if there is anything schooling wise to help and alleviate the problem. Speaking from personal experience it can be so easy to try and switch the bit for a quick solution but it ending up causing more trouble in the long run. If he has been happy in his other bit for so long I would try and find out what had changed and focus in schooling for the problem jan changing the bit. Xx
