Today I found 7 or 8 rather odd white objects in my pony's water bucket, in her stable. They were about the size/shape of small jelly beans. They don't dissolve/disintegrate in water, but did disintegrate when trodden on (I didn't fancy picking them up!) Does anyone have any idea at all what they could be? Thank you.

Sounds like some sort of insect larvae, could they have been laid somewhere above and then fallen down?

Could pony have sneezed in her bucket?

Definitely not from sneezing, but insect larvae sounds possible - large insects, though, I reckon!

Possible tapeworm segments???

Not tapeworm segments - they are all 'whole' objects, and all pretty much identical. Weirdest thing is that, this morning, I found a golf ball in her stable!!!!

I had a horse that produced 'gunk ' from its nose at night when his head went down to drink - sounds exactly like what he used to produced - white bits, all similar size and shape. He never coughed when in work or gave any indication of congested lungs, but....... Just a thought! Possible??

The golf ball did, indeed, come from the hay - apparently there have been lots of them on the yard. Maybe we should think about turning it into a driving range... The 'little' white objects are definitely not nasal as they held their shape when tipped out onto the ground. Didn't think to take a photo, so you'll all just have to keep guessing. And, sorry, 2Connies, no prizes...

Every hear when the swallows arrive I have to move water buckets as they get bird droppings in, these become jelly like and blobby in the water, could it be bird droppings from a beam above maybe?

Bigmama - I think you're probably right... Toaster - not droppings - all too uniform in size/shape! The mystery continues...

Baby golf balls ?

Now, Flee, that is a distinct possibility. However, if they are indeed baby golf balls, they have a lot of maturing to do; they need to develop pimples (but only when they become adolescents), they need to change shape (when they hit 40 or have their own offspring) and they need to develop a hard outer shell to avoid being crushed underfoot, but those will just be the female ones...
