Hi, I'm wanting to try this hoys qualifier at newforest county, is any body else wanting to do it? Any suggestions for how I can do well in this class. I feel my pony who is a part bred Connie may be overlooked as he is not like the flashy show ponies and he is a dapple grey and I feel bay ponies are favored in showing. Thanks

Hi
Its great you are wanting to try out a HOYS Q I would not worry about him not being flashy it is a class that is judged by looking for good conformation and way of going and there will be lots of different types and it is up to the judges preference. All colours are treated equally and bays are not better than any other colour in a show class !
If you would like some help or ideas by e mail or over the phone send a photo by e mail or FB to TSR and Sarah will give you some advice on presentation etc
Good Luck !

Remember for this class you must wear navy jacket and coloured browband. Just looking at your avatar and you are in tweed.
Also have you registered for your HOYS ID for you & your pony and are you both registered with a society as well??
Good luck and good on you for aiming high.

Hi thanks for everyone's response, I'm not sure about this HOYS ID but I have sent my ponys details to confirm he is registered to grandstand media (HOYS). He is a registered part bred connemara.
Thankyou that picture was for a SHP class but I have my coloured browband on its ways and I am currently looking for a tweed jacket. However I'm not sure what bit to go in, he I great in his snaffle but can be quite heavy in the standard Pelham and I have seen most people in a show Pelham but I'm not sure. I don't think he would like a double bridle as it would be quite heavy for him.

Hi, I think you may be confusing grandstand media with the show register? You need to register with grandstand media and add yourself and your pony. You will get a log in and you will get a HOYS ID for you and your pony. These need to be quoted on your HOYS form which you need to send in with your entry form. You also need to register yourself and your pony with either NPS, BSPS, TSR or both be members of the rekevant breed society. Also did you mean you were looking for a navy jacket as tweed is not allowed in the PB classes.

Yes , sorry I don't know why I put tweed, I did mean navy opps!! I think I'm going to be come a member of TSR. I made an account on grand stand media myself, is that wrong?
Thank you

Yes that's right, you register yourself with GM then add your owner, rider & pony details but there's a part on there for your society registration number which you need, you must be a member of one of the relevant societies to put a HOYS entry in as if not your entry would be invalid.

Ah great thankyou, I am taking both ponies for another holiday to to newforest as I love it. I have been to the county show before but never competed and is much better than my local surrey county show . I will try and register with tsr as they seem to offer a lot for their membership

I only had a look cos I knew they said they may open it out to other part breds after the first year. And I hoped the OP checked the rules and knew her pony was eligible x
