Hi Orangetails, many thanks for your reply. Everything you say is true. However, now she has decided that she doesn't want to ride at all, (well maybe at shows!), but not actually put any effort in to improving! She went to a PC rally last week and I have never seen such a disinterested face, and lots of sighing, she was riding the old pony off the lead, and I thought, doing very well, but then came the usual 'I'm rubbish, the others are much better', which of course they are, because they put some effort in! What to do with such a defeatist attitude? So I just said kindly, tell me if you don't want to, I won't be cross, and she said she didn't, and hasn't showed any inclination since. So with a heavy heart, I must now sell my lovely pony, and she can just share the old one with her younger brother, who seems to be still enjoying riding at the mo.If I leave her alone, she may come back to it in the future.

I know this is an old thread but was drawn to it. My daughter has suffered with her nerves due to me managing to get a series of unsuitable ponies, I have no sense! Now when she is nervous, she tips forward and her lower leg goes back. Sadly of course as we all know if anything were to happen there would be only one way out, the front door!. Not able to offer any advice bur feel for op as I know how you feel. My daughters lack of confidence is holding her back, breaks my heart! Have to add though she desperately wants to ride and is more than prepared to put in the effort, so I am glad for that
