The brand new addition to the 2015 Showing calendar, Stoneleigh Horse Show, will be opening up the showing arena for the first time with an exciting new change to entry regulations.
Uniquely, at Stoneleigh Horse Show this year, there will be no membership stipulations for any showing classes, including all Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) qualifiers. This opens up the classes to competitors who previously may have been deterred from aiming for a HOYS qualification.
This gives more competitors the opportunity to compete for that elusive HOYS ticket. However, before any qualification is verified for HOYS, competitors who are not current members of the relevant society must become so within seven working days or forfeit the ticket.
If the circumstance should occur where the qualified competitor chooses not to become a member of the relevant society within the allocated time frame, the HOYS ticket will pass to the next eligible competitor.
Any horses or ponies who have qualified in a height restricted section, who are not currently registered, must be in possession of a current and valid JMB height certificate for the final. A copy of this certificate must be submitted at the time of entry for HOYS.
The decision behind the change is in a bid to support equestrianism both as a sport and community. By allowing competitors the opportunity to experience the thrill of vying for a HOYS ticket it is hoped they will also take the next step to compete at affiliated competitions, by joining their relevant societies. This will hopefully drive new members and increase numbers in societies across the country.
What makes this ruling structure unique is that these rules will only apply at Stoneleigh Horse Show, nowhere else in the country. Stoneleigh Horse Show is able to offer this exclusive opportunity as the organisers for both shows are the same, Grandstand Media Ltd.
