Hi
I don't know if some of you will remember but I posted last year about my filly who had taken a triangle of skin off the front of her hock (http://horsegossip.proboards.com/thread/191572/nasty-stitched-wound-reduce-scarring). She's really come on now and after 3months of box rest over winter she got back out in to the field with my old mare and went from 13.1h to 14.2h! I thought I would post a collage of photo's for anyone who is interested. In the end the wound was healed with Manuka honey and then I used Megatek to get it to where it is now. It's quite an odd scar, it is raised up like a vein and I don't know how it will look when she is fully grown. I wonder if it will stretch out as her leg fills out and become flatter and / or I wonder if it will irritate her from time to time as her skin is stretching.
If anyone can given me guidance as to what they would do with the leg in the showing ring too it would be appreciated! I was wanting to do sports horse classes with her next year as a 2yo and then RH classes when she's older but I'll likely stick to dressage if judges will be horrified.
Thanks
(picture to follow in next post).

The first picture shows her leg after the skin that was stitched back on died off. Vet removed it and then it was bandaged with Manuka honey. The last picture is from yesterday after I put Megatek on. The megateks done all it can now as hair won't grow back any more but I like to keep it moisturised.

That has come along a treat. I think the key is keeping it moisturised. Manuka honey is a wonder drug.

I'm really impressed with Manuka honey now. Considering the wound was over the join and of a weanling I think it's done better than expected.
