Cheshire County Show 23 @ 24 June A word of warning ! If you are exhibiting leave plenty of time for getting into the Showground. Have it on good authority that Stewards will be STOPPING and SEARCHING as many horse transports as they can to stop people getting in without a ticket !! Jobsworth is alive and well and living on the Tabley Showground !!!

Don't blame them. It's the people trying to sneak in without paying that are to blame. It's a great show that costs a lot of money to put on so why should some people think they shouldn't have to contribute! Just my opinion

they have searched for last few years, problem is 3 tickets with 3 classes one being a lead rein just isn't enough, its so unfair when I have to pay for an extra pair of hands and we don't even get chance to look at anything other than the horse rings we are in

We have 4 classes and 3 tickets - wonder if the tighter allocation of tickets, coupled with horsebox searches is another way of getting more money.
If your buying extra tickets at point of entry - then these tickets should be at a reduced price (and not just a pound or two off normal gate price, as its money in the bank!).
But as "Laura" as stated, you normally only get chance to look at the horse rings and a quick trip to the ice-cream van....

Last year my horse got heat induced colic due to the ridiculous delays for getting onto the show ground!!!! if it happens again I will not only be livid but will also forward the vet bills to the show! which is a shame as it is a lovely show!

And that's why I am giving it a miss. Again. Fred McKie would not be impressed.

I live 5 minutes from the show ground, but it often takes me an hour and a half to get home!! RIDICULOUS!

They are really mean with tickets, we have entered a hoys class with a ridden pony and then a mare and foal in two other classes but have only been sent 3 tickets and 1 car pass! The jockey riding is different to the handlers of the mare and foal but this doesn't seem to make any difference. when I rang up they said that no one else has had a problem with the tickets allocated and I will just have to buy on the gate if we don't have enough!

I've just had a to do with them about the pre entries so they aren't in my good books at the minute lol. Yes it's a big show and yes it costs alot to hold, but think of all the money they make with their forever rising entry fees for classes, ticket fees rising, trade stand fees rising! They make a mint! This stopping and checking boxes is embarrassing if you ask me. Like we all say it's one of the best county shows so it's such a shame.

I have never done Cheshire County before and we are coming all the way from north yorkshire, doing the 153cm novice SHP and WHP which im hoping will be early afternoon, but I had already heard about traffic disasters and panicking that I'm going to miss classes, it doesnt help planning when they don't release the pre entry numbers!!!

Maybe they should do like the Yorkshire and check tickets on walking into the showground after parking up. Something needs to be done. I'm sure there's not a huge amount of people get in for free on the grand scheme of things!!

We had a terrible experience with a very rude man 2 years ago. He demanded I unlock the living door on the lorry as he was coming on to search how many people were in the vehicle. I explained that there were children getting dressed and he was not coming in. He became very angry and insisted that the door was unlocked to let him search the vehicle. It got a bit heated and I offered to let a female member of staff look in the lorry. He eventually agreed to this. It made me wonder if these people are even CRB checked. We wouldn't let a stranger into our children's bedrooms while they were sleeping or dressed in their nightwear. I work in the criminal justice system and question the checks carried out on the people making these "demands" Not at all like the professional security teams we are used to at the BSPS championship shows or the Royal International.
