It will be the first time competing at Cheshire County this year and I'm starting to panic about the traffic. I went last year to watch and the traffic wasn't great but have to say we only waited approx 20 mins to get in then out again (in a car). Some people have said they have waited for hours ! I'm worried about the heat as well and if they are going to do checks on the box (for people avoiding ticket prices) which I presume will mean a lot of stopping and starting, which pony absolutely hates. For people who have been previously, what's your advice? How much time do you allow for getting into the show ground? If it helps, we'll be coming from Preston, Lancashire. I've read anything from half an hour to 2 hours. Thanks.

In my experience it totally depends on what time you are planning to get there - i e actually parked up? The traffic seems to go in waves, but in recent years it all seems to keep moving quite well. the old holdups were mostly due to everyone having to be towed on to the show ground, these days there is hard core pretty much all the way, so you are unlikely to have this problem - Also are you inhand rings or workers / M & M's? etc - different lorry parks!!

Yes I must admit we haven't been in bad queues getting in. In fact we drove straight in last year. We usually set off from sunny yorkshire about 0600 and land at 0730 but this year we are staying over so will aim to be there for 0700 and plait on arrival me thinks.

We have only beem able to drive straight in when its very early, last year for example, on the first day we had an m&m worker in the large hoys section, left birmingham at half 7, usually nearly two hour journey, it took us 4 hours to get there because of the traffic going into the show, so the next day we were there with a 143 worker, and left really early so not to have to queue, no traffic to get in but poor pony had to wait around ages. I dont really know why there is so much traffic to get in, last weekend at Three counties, we drove straight in all three days no problem, and thats an equally busy show. If we are queueing for as long this year we will not be entering next year

I also went to 3 counties at the weekend and we set off on Friday at 1400, we hit traffic on the M42 around Solihull and was pretty much nose to tail right until we got to Upton just before the showground. That was without show traffic!!!!! It's what we expected by driving down three of the busiest motorways on a Friday afternoon!!!!

I didn't believe it so called the show organisers myself, they confirmed it but I also advised them that they should put something on there website and social media account which they said they were going to do, it was approx 2 weeks ago & still nothing has been done..

Omg, someone said to me a couple of weeks ago that Honley & Halifax had cancelled equine classes. I said at the time that Halifax wasn't until August so they must have it wrong. Obviously not!! I must apologise!!
I think the change of committee has been the sad demise of Halifax. Look at the farce the 1st year and then last year when you had to re write the schedule CD after they had large breed lead rein classes!!!!!
I offered to help after the first year fiasco but they didn't take me up on it.

They are utterly useless, all they've done is taken down last year's schedule and replaced it with a message saying this year's schedule is coming soon!! I still think it's a bit odd cancelling so far in advance though?

Yes me too and it makes you wonder if there's an underlying reason? ?

Yes me too and it makes you wonder if there's an underlying reason? ? Exactly what I was thinking, and using strangles for a cover up, to cancel a show over two months in advance due to strangles in the area is very bizarre!
