Looking for some advice and opinions on worming. Our yard has no set worming program and just ask people to worm/egg count before turning out in spring but don't actually check. I egg counted via vet and then used equest pramox. Now thinking about whether I should be worming again in August - and if so what suggestions just plain equest or something else or wait until the autumn when they come in for winter. Thanks

Sounds like your yard needs to get up to speed with modern worm control. Worming should be based on test results plus one dose for encysted redworm in winter. Otherwise no doses unless specifically required by test result. Please don't randomly dose because it seems like a while since the last one. Test first. At Westgate we test hundreds of large yards and all advice is included. Usually most horses don't need worming. Contact the lab for advice, no obligation of course but we all want the best for our horses and worm control is too important to mess about with.

Ditto but don't forget tapeworm too - can worm for tapeworm when worming for encysted redworm or there's a new saliva test available. Sent from my GT-I9195 using proboards

Tapeworm certainly not forgotten Test with the saliva test 2 x per year as best policy, can be winter/summer or spring/autumn. Or if you use Pramox as your winter dose for encysted reds it also treats tapes so tapeworm test once in summer.
