Yes I have done in years past. Perscribed to me by the vet. I thought you couldn't get it any more? Agree time and patience for the boney prominence, but anything that is given by the vet will be fine. It is an anti-inflammatory direct to the site so will help with soft tissue resolution.

DMSO and any steroid (which can be injected by the vet around the splint) will only work on newly formed splints or ones still growing/forming.
Once the splint has set hard and is fully formed there is nothing you can use to treat it. Blisters are pretty useless as all they do is form a scab in the flesh which looks to reduce the splint once removed. In reality the splint will be the same size!
Only magnetic boots and Time/rest can reduce it. You can have them operated on however they will generally reform again!
The above is the conversation i had with my vet today on a splint That has formed on one of ours.
Hope this helps.

the thing is a splint appears for a reason ,,, that maybe that the horse has had a hoolie in the field and over done it ,,,too much work on hard ground ,,, too much work too early ,,, any number of reasons early in life , or later on in life,,, but the most important thing with a splint is that its not there for no reason ,,,,, and in my experience the best thing to do if you want it to reabsorb is rest ,,, now that may not be convenient ,, but a horse is not a machine ,,,,, my old girl threw a splint right in the middle of the show season ,,,, very hard ground early on in the season,,, and it came home to roost , my fault --- yes , i should have done less , but i didnt ,,,, that said , i turned her out for 6 weeks complete rest ,, and then managed a few shows at the end of the season ,,,, a splint is a strain on the bone ,,,, listen to your horse ,,, you cant rush natural healing and that is what any boney structure needs TIME
