well they do say the shine comes from within but ive found using alva a shine spray and polishing with a sheepskin mit creates a lovely gleam.

my duns always shine no problems shine comes from the inside if they wont shine its time to look at the animals general health . we never need to use coat gloss on the mature ones and we only use it on the babies till they get there first propper summer coat . a good bath and lots of rinsing is all we find ours need for the ring and teetree shampoo really brings out the shine without stripping the natural oils from the coat . if you do use coat glosses the dull ness might be caused by product build up on the coat mother and son

seaweed is good to keep dapples and darken around the eyes , and puts a lovely gleam on .

micronized linseed, more palatable and less messy than linseed oil!

i agree lovley little lead rein pony....i think veggi or sumflower oil is fantastic, plenty of it in their feed ( if they'll eat it, my stallion will but my yearling wont) plenty of brushing and rugged well and bath with either tea tree or some kind of citrus shampoo! plenty of show shine on the night before a show and rug up then a good rub with a grooming mit (one of the proper sheepskin really fluffy ones) at the show =] but plenty of grooming all the time and oil =] x
