What rugs do people use for stallions with big crests?
I've tried a few brands and whilst they are the right length, the hole for the neck isn't big enough so they don't sit well on the chest. I've tried a bigger size but they sit just the same on the chest and are then too long in the body!
Help please :-)

Hi Having spent a fortune on rugs I sympathise with your dilemma. The solution I have found is to buy the rug in the size you want and buy the neck cover separately in the next size up. I bought a Bucas rug this way two years ago and haven't had a problem since it's still like new and can see me getting at least another two seasons out of it. I'm sure you can buy other brands of rugs this way.

Thanks for the reply. I don't think I was clear - I'm talking about standard neck rugs and how they do up round the chest. They do up but sit too high on his chest and really don't look comfortable!

you're welcome
Depending on the rug size of the horse it may be worth looking at the Horseware XL range as they are bigger around the shoulder area but the range doesnt go very small length-wise
