We have spent the last two months looking for a new venue. So far hitting a stone wall - it needs to be within a 15 mile radius of Boroughbridge and at least 30 acres of good grassland. We are a charity show supporting Yorkshire Cancer Research , Air Ambulance and Jack Berry House. We can pay a reasonable fee, some venues are just too expensive We have had several suggestions on Facebook but none have been any good. Please pm me if you know of anywhere satisfying the above criteria. No venue will mean the end of The Hambleton. This show has been built up from a few classe to what it is today. Please help us to keep it going .

Grange park at wetherby? Was always big enough when Northern Horse was there.

That venue has been suggested along with many others Phillippa but as the post says above it's not suitable, but I agree it is a massive field and would have thought it ideal. Perhaps it is too far out of their catchment area?

Sheriff Hutton, where Mick Easterby runs his point to point ?? I know he owns the land too.

Wonder if Ripon racecourse hires out and if that is within the radius required?

Ripon racecourse has already been approached and the Grange Park now have pitches on all the flat ground I'm afraid. Will look into Sherrif Hutton but may be too far from where everything is stored.

Wetherby racecourse?? Or is that the same as Philippa's suggestion. Very easy to access as well.
Northern racing college at Doncaster? Went to a show there last year, there was lots of space there.

Shame about Grange park. I wondered about wether by racecourse too. They allow you to use the centre of the course. Also rip on. Unfortunately Northern racing college would be ideal but I fear too far.

Or maybe if someone approached the Furness's, near Boltby. Or Linda Brudenell may know of somewhere?? just trying to think of people I know round there who could accommodate.

I am sure when the Northern Horse Show was at Grange Park, the pitches were used....I remember rugby posts in the rings!

Hi would it be worth contacting the Yorkshire Post to see if they can publicise your dilemma given the charitable ethos of the show I'm sure they would help?

Driving on the A1 a couple of weeks ago, it seems that there are some 'mowed' cricket-style areas as well now. Not that I took my eyes off the road of course! Presumably to hire a part of the GY Showground would be prohibitive?

Ahh right. Yes the GYS would be a fabulous venue but just 6 weeks before the main show it may interfere with their preparation or if there was damage to the ground it may not recover soon enough?? The cost is phenomenal too.

The GYS is over £5000. Newby Hall is also too expensive. We are looking to make it a 2 day show which is why we say 30 acres . For one day we need 60. The man power needed to just set up the ground is massive and now it isn't at The Barugh the logistics need to be carefully considered. Please keep trying - someone may have somewhere we haven't tried and ruled out.

Judyh. Do you know the Furness's?? They are the only people I can think of that would have that amount of land in the Thirsk area that are horsey? Or Joe Swiers, not sure where he lives think it's dish forth area but he owns most of the land between Boroughbridge & Thirsk. He has P2P & racehorses.

And, if so, on the Equine side, do you have a phenomenal amount of trade stands, 200+ on-site stabling with ancillary parking - and ? 6/7/8/9 rings? It's just that your calculation seems an absolutely massive acreage requirement for a day, (even two day) purely Horse show. Trust me.

We have run the show for 21 years, I can assure you we know what we are doing!!! There are 12 rings....

Was only trying to be helpful. And I did say, I don't know your show! Appreciably, 12 rings are a lot of rings.

Cattrick racecourse or Richmond Equestrian (using the cross country fields as rings ??)
