So, you are on the yard, doing your thing. What makes you think 'grrr'.... Here's a few to get you started: The know it all 'you want to take that (fizzy) horse in hand and show it who's boss' type - who then (when their bluff is called) refuse to actually get on said horse and demonstrate. Smokers who light up despite seeing the signs saying No Smoking. The none 'feet picker outers' who exit the box with horse immediately after the yard has been swept (and usually after watching you do it).

The people who use your stuff...buy your own fork
The people who don't sweep up
The people who don't put jumps away
The people who don't poo pick
The people who expect the water to miraculously clean and top up itself...
Oh you've got me started now lol. Just pretty much everything.

Messy people Know it alls who actually don't have a clue at all and have the worst behaved horse on the yard YO's that don't allow turnout YO's who grow their grass so much all horses have to be kept in as they get lami YO who wont let you feed your lami horse hay and only lets you have rich sugary hayledge lack of other yards to move to, when YO dictates everything you should do with your own horse!!!
....and breath!

I wasn't going to reply on this as I fear once I get started ................. .............. Until the other evening!!!!!!!
People who ask for your help then argue and strop when they don't like your reply!!!!
One younger girl the other night was in the school while I was helping someone with their extensions. There was no contact going on, just hooling round with no idea. So, my first mistake was to look over and say 'wrong leg' as she hurtled up the long side. She replied she knew but carried on regardless to the top where she dragged the pony round giving it a kick in the guts!! So I think, oh well, leave her to it!! Until she comes across me when I'm stood in the centre of the arena screeching "how do I get her to go on the right leg?" I walk across to the gate desperate not to get involved but she's now following me, I couldn't help it, it just came out, I said "what do you pay L---- L---- for? What would she tell you to do?" Bear in mind she has had lessons for the last 12 months or so with this woman and obviously pays her for nothing!! Anyway she took offence, I did try to explain to her that until she had mastered walk the trot & canter wouldn't happen but once she had mastered walk then progress to trot!!!! I offered her exercises she could do with her horse to improve but she knew best by this point!!!
I don't teach (hmmm wonder why lol, no seriously it doesn't interest me) but I enjoy helping those who genuinely want to learn and listen. I enjoy helping people tweak areas they may need and I don't ever charge anyone for that but why would someone expect me to sort them & their pony out for free when they pay someone else weekly for lessons who clearly don't do their job!!!!!
Grrrrrrr.

People that will borrow, then break your things, and not tell you, until you need them and find them stuffed in the bottom of your trunk/box! YO that say you must use their hay, even if its totally unsuitable for anything, let alone horses. know it alls - that make plenty of snide comments but suddenly hush when their horse throws them off.. I could go on, im with Catkin, so glad I now have mine at home - I fear I may have been locked up for a long time otherwise!

This livery thing was quite a culture shock to me too as we always had ours at home til a few years ago.
I think I'm lucky though as our yard is very good. I've heard some real horror stories.

And of course I forgot the best of all - those that don't think they need to call a vet, because box rest fixes everything..
Yep i'm partially bankrupt after buying my own land but MY GOD, I would never go back.

Liveries that
Expect there to be no mud Don't clean up after the horse poos all over yard on way to/from field Leave lights on Use 2 buckets of water every day and empty one and half buckets out every day Fill nets with 30lbs of hay Don't sweep up after farrier Don't pay livery on time Ring at stupid o clock giving 1 hours notice for turnout Ask for advice and then do what they wanted anyway Can't pull the haulage if the bale properly so it all gets jammed at the bottom
Just from a different perspective

The boys tend to nick my brushes and hose pipes, other than that they do lots to help me so I can't really complain. The only other thing is when people don't put they're dogs on leads. We have coastal path running through the yard, so constant traffic, I do like it, just the ones who don't read the signs who spoil it. The ones who roll they're eyes and say ooo he s lived on a farm, yes I say but thems the rules

Pigeons !!!!!! I'm not a violent person but I'm sick of them crapping on all our stuff, they've even nested above our stable. So rarely for me I've actually requested a sniper or just give me a gun to get rid of them..... Think that's my only moan in 2 years
At the livery yard :0)

Ahh yes birds, we have lots of swallows in the summer, and yes they do sh1t everywhere, but we keep everything covered, I don't ride really so any leather work stays indoors, Haylage stays in wrapper til it's needed, the pros outweighs the cons with them, I love watching them, some nest above my stable lighting. Cute as buttons.

Swallows yes love them, pigeons no!
We're at an american barn style yard and I'm sure they're ninja pigeons armed with poop guns and stealth mode invisibility cloaks. We have to keep everything covered - rugs, feed bins, forks/brushes, buckets, even young children!
They drive me crazy

I always seem to have about a dozen in my big barn and yes, they do make a mess. I get someone in to shoot them periodically but he always manages to leave about 3 to repopulate the barn again - I think he uses it as his larder as he takes the dead ones to eat. There used to be white doves in the indoor where our local dressage was held, often walking on the ground which spooked some horses - but not the one who came round trot, trot, trot, splat, trot, trot........ without the rhythm faltering in the slightest.

I am very happy on my yard, it is other people that are mainly annoying! Moaning about everything, nothing being right even though the care our horses receive is excellent. I also hate people who use too much tack and have nosebands done up so tight the horses can't breathe properly. If you can't explain why you are using the tack you do, you shouldn't be using it!

Very lucky to have amazing people on our yard! The one bug bear I have is people not picking out feet or not cleaning up mess they make just after the yards been swept!

People who seem to think it is their yard Gossip Mongers, bull******rs with no facts or evidence to back their claims People who pinch your storage area, for their tack, hay ,,bedding ETC People who don't pick the poo up after using the school, so ultimately down to you before you can use The good old advice givers, who half the time frightened to ride their own horse (despite their excuses) People who use your stuff (especially your grooming kit)! have the decency to clean it and put the item back where you got it from Last of all thieves!!
