I have a LR Sec A who lacks energy whilst on the lead, I have spoken with Top Spec and he is being fed correct amounts of their recommended diet (balancer) he is an extremely good doer he has been on this diet for about 3 months now, my daughter is 7 so doesn't have the strongest of legs as yet and tires quickly and obviously she cant have a stick in the ring, pony is 5 and goes flat very quickly he is not excitable so not burnt energy but by the time we come to do our individual show he has a job to move, he is worked at home about 4 times a week so isn't unfit and his work varies from lunge, hacking schooling etc so its not a boredom issue either. Im looking for an energy supplement which may help until he matures a little cant afford for it to make him fizzy given his cargo, any recommendations?

I had a horse exactly the same sort of, he would do the ride round in the ring full of energy always get pulled in top three then completely die on his individual even to the point he'd come back to walk when changing the rein, after advice from vets we put him on a supplement called propell plus which has absolutely worked wonders we managed to do two classes a day with him for 4 days at equifest and got placed in all of them, and even managed a buck in one of his individuals! It's completely transformed him, I'd recommend it to try

I was recommended feeding B vitamins for my mare, different situation as she competes in dressage/showjumping but I have found they've made a difference in energy levels as opposed to competition or slow release energy feeds which just made her fizzy.

We have a super safe first ridden who is the same, can you buy the b vitamins in a supplement form?

How often do you show/how far do you travel to shows?
It's surprising how much energy they use to travel, especially when young. One of mine won't eat whilst the lorry is moving so I ensure I get to shows in plenty of time or if travelling a long way, I plan regular stops as he eats the moment the engine is off! This helps his energy levels and prevents him coming off the lorry looking tucked up.

Currently we don't travel far as I know this takes it out of them no more than about 40mins and always make sure we are there in good time, he eats fine whilst travelling as can see him on CCTV, and currently he goes out once/twice month and not shown over winter, he is no different at home TBH but cant measure the same as being in a class
