My broodmare has been prescribed regumate to help maintain her pregnancy. She has been given 7ml everyday since 14 day scan and has had another 3 successful scans after that (last one being 120 days) and shown no ill effects. She is now 160 days and has been sweating all over after being administered the regumate but then returns to normal after a few hours. This has been happening over the past few day. I have spoken to my vet but she isn't sure.
Has anyone else experienced anything similar? I am not sure what effect this is having to both my mare and unborn foal.
Thanks in advance xx

You don't say why your mare is on regumate but it sounds like the dose could be too high, has your vet done any blood tests since the 120 day scan?If my memory serves me right the placenta takes over the production of progesterone at 120 days - does your mare actually need the regumate?

My mare came off the Regumate at around 120 days and maintained pregnancy, never showed any of the adverse signs your mare has though. I would talk to your vet again.

Your Vet is unsure? I think I'd be pressing her to find out!
