Just a suggestion for the forage question - can you not either leave it loose not netted to be thrown over the door if that's what the YO wants to do, or invest in the nets with very small holes, which are too small unless net is damaged for a horse to get its feet though? You would need to tie up the neck of the net securely and leaving no trailing cord.

When I started reading that you pay £28 per horse and get this, this & this I was thinking good god what are you moaning about! Then I went on to read the rest. OMG you shouldn't have to put up with that. You wouldn't treat your own like that by choice so why on earth pay for the privilledge?? Unfortunately given the time of year and your condition I'm not sure what you can do other than make do & mend (literally) until you are in a position to move. I must say I'm on DIY on a predominantly full livery only yard and I do the day to day things such as repainting my own stables and I refurbished the fronts with corrugated plastic from the dark dingy wood that was on the front. This is all at my own expense but it benefits my ponies and anything major is seen to by the YO. I think flexibility is key in these situations and a bit of give and take doesn't hurt anyone. Your YO is taking the Michael in all areas. The lighting thing is ridiculous and I'd be telling them so. Are they not horsey people themselves???
Good luck with your birth. Xx

Why are you still on this yard ? Surely there must be others around, it sounds like the other liveries are fed up too so why don't a group of you look to taking on a yard together and running it yourselves ?

Yes she is horsey - It is funny - Her horses nets are always tied up correctly. I have actually told her that this is why I am not leaving nets and I go to the yard in the mornings to net them myself now (the still get their morning feeds when she feeds - She does not turn up at a specific time sometimes it is 8:30 and sometimes 10:30 - On the days she is later I feed the whole yard for her.
Unfortunately my ponies are messy/fussy/ just plain awkward lol! if they get hay on the floor they just drag it back into their beds and defecate all over it! Yesterday I had to throw four barrows of haylage away from one stable because she had thrown haylage over the door.
I am now asking myself the same question? Why on earth am I still on this yard, I kept putting it off because I have three and so much stuff it is worse than moving house!!!! - But will have to hang fire before I can move until baby arrives.
I understand that DIY is DIY and don't even mind having to do work on stables etc within reason, but it is a culmination of all the little things. The fact that I am taking a whole bed a day out because I can't see and we are only allowed to be on shavings is costing me £20 a day in bedding alone.

Mine are far too greedy to leave any hay uneaten if I chuck it over the door, they waste very little!
