Long flowing mane.....

Hello all,

Any tips for preserving a long and flowing mane? My boy has a lovely but not v thick mane, although he is out in a field without a neck on his rug and and the field has trees which I think may be partly to blame! I'm using megatek and pig oil to keep it smoth and minimal brushing!! 

Any advice would be gratefully received!!

I've recently started using mtg once a week and the growth and thickness is very noticeable.
He has a neck on his rug and I don't brush it unless showing, then I just use my fingers to detangle first.
