I am looking for a fully qualified instructor in the Bolton area. I have a rising 4 Appaloosa x TB mare. She is backed and riding away nicely in walk and trot. I have had my ups and downs with her and ended up having her professionally backed just before Christmas due to injuring myself when she threw me off!! Since then we have both come on leaps and bounds. I have been having lessons with the lady who professionally backed her but only one every 4 - 6 weeks as she isn't local and struggles to fit me in outside of work/at weekend. We are currently working on transitions and a nice forward going trot and have been doing a little bit of pole work. The one area I need some help with is cantering. I have been working on her canter on the lunge and this is improving greatly. Her balance (as is to be expected) needs to improve but her transition is getting a lot less erratic and more controlled. I am, however, a little nervous about asking her to canter when I'm riding and I'm hoping that by having regular lessons this will help not just her but my confidence and give us something regular to work on as I'm concerned she is going to start getting bored with what we're currently doing. Someone who has experience with young horses would be great also. Please message me if you feel you could help.

Look on the BHS website for registered instructors.
